Concrete Pump




Concrete pumps are tools that is used to liquid concrete from the source of concrete to the place of casting. In earlier days, two-cylinder hydraulic pump was used. It worked on the principle that one piston drawing the concrete from the hopper and the other piston pushing it into the discharge outlet pipe. There is a valve by using valve the piston are controlled. As the years passes evolution has taken place and variations in the design have been taken place. High-pressure pumping developed when concrete should be pumped at different heights and lengths. This is widely used and in demand for high-rise building.

Type of Concrete Pumps

Based on the pumping pressure, ease of working and developing technologies different concrete pumps have been developed.

Ø  Line Concrete Pump: As name shows it has line pump attached to the back of the truck or the trailer. This is used for smaller construction projects. The arrangement is also called as trailer mounted concrete pump or truck mounted concrete pump.

Ø  Boom Concrete Pump: This is type of pump in which pump stays at one place only during the entire pouring of concrete procedure. These are stationary concrete pumps. They have larger dimension which is placed on the ground and have crane or boom arm attached to it in different lengths.
Concrete pumping in high-rise buildings are done by boom concrete pump in this process pipeline allows to reach at upward place and below. Pipeline are movable. Tight spots are also cast by this kind of pump. Obstacles during the concrete casting path can be easily overcome by such pumps.
A good and right choice of concrete pump is decides based on the following parameters:

Ø  The complexity of Construction Projects in terms of casting
Ø  Price and economic factors

Ultra High Performance Concrete

This concrete has minimum strength of MPa. It has a great durability. C ommonly, the UHPC consists of cement, silica fume, fine quartz sand, high range water reducing admixtures, steel fibers, and low water to cementitious materials ranging from 0.15 to 0.25. Durability of this concrete is superior compared to ordinary concrete as its pores are discontinuous, which declines liquid penetration. UHPC is used to improve concrete homogeneity through the removal of coarse aggregate in the mixture. It does better gradation and mixture between the main components so that voids are reduced thus density increases. Steel fibres are added to the mixture to avoid brittleness of concrete.
